Problem

In early 2008, Papa Gino’s and sister-company D'Angelo Grilled Sandwiches recognized they were lagging behind their competitors. After researching options to regain their competitive advantage, they discovered the best way to achieve cutting-edge results was to implement an online ordering solution. With their proprietary POS supporting nearly 400 units, the challenge quickly became determining the best method of disseminating orders to various locations.

Approach

One of the first challenges was integrating the ONOSYS Online Ordering System with Papa Gino’s proprietary POS system. The support teams of Papa Gino’s and ONOSYS combined their efforts to develop a custom interface that allowed for a complete integration into Papa Gino’s Chelsea system. There were also issues of establishing a communication channel between the online ordering system and Papa Gino’s POS. ONOSYS solved this by integrating a secure FTP.

Once implemented, the FTP solution revealed another potential complication—franchises were processing credit cards in the restaurants themselves. Therefore, security became the utmost priority. From there, ONOSYS installed online credit card processing. This resolution strengthened the entire system. It improves the speed of order processing, eliminates human error and keeps the ONOSYS system PCI compliant. Therefore, ONOSYS can maintain their unwavering dedication to the highest security standards in the industry.

Results

Results were impressive and immediate. Within two months, Papa Gino’s saw over 2% of their sales coming through online orders. Plus, the ONOSYS System is capable of tracking customer email and contact information, which developed into a database of 50,000+ users loyal to Papa Gino’s and D’Angelo brands. Furthermore, Papa Gino’s found that the average ticket size online is an astounding 80% higher than in-store. Overall, ONOSYS delivered in excess of the company’s requirements, and the partnership delivers soaring profit margins and continuous success for Papa Gino’s.
